Focus in this course will be on legal aspects in context, including:
- The concept of autonomy and adjacent concepts, such as self-determination, self-government, territorial governance and power-sharing.
- The use of territorial autonomy in conflict resolution and peace agreements
- Domestic and international dimensions of territorial autonomy
- Institutions of territorial autonomy and their legal entrenchment and comparative cases, including the Åland Islands
- Leading case law on territorial autonomy
