    Description

The goal of the mobility is to develop an in vitro cystic fibrosis (CF) lung infection model composed of dual-species biofilm and a CF-mimicking matrix to simulate the physiological conditions of CF-affected lungs. The model will focus on the establishment of Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa co-culture biofilms to study polymicrobial interactions and antimicrobial resistance mechanisms. Dr. Sybil Akua Okyerewa Obuobi’s expertise in antimicrobial biomaterials and infectious models at UiT Tromso, will provide the sending unit an opportunity to acquire advanced skills in infection model development. This collaboration will contribute to the development of a more physiologically relevant model for testing antibacterial formulations and understanding microbial behavior in CF-related infections. The main objective of this mobility is to strengthen research competence in infection modeling and facilitate knowledge transfer to Åbo Akademi University.
