The Greta Thunberg Effect - At risk youth as potential ideal transformative agents

My presentation will be exploring the topic of social education and youth research pertaining to youth especially at risk youth from limited socio economic backgrounds. Youth in general are often explored as a problem, emphasising the negative outcomes and seldom regarded in terms of their positive potentials.

My presentation will be looking at an alternative approach, drawing on the strengths and experiences of at risk youth and thus regarding them as a valuable potential to be realised. In part this would mean that certain elements of these youths’ background would be re-defined and thus transformed from limiting to enabling factors.
