Description
Chair of the Session: Sustainable and Circular Economy of Inorganic Materials ProcessingAdditionaldescription
Synopsis:Today, many countries and companies announced that they have adopted a Net Zero emissions strategy. Consequently, decarbonization of the metal making industry and utilization of renewable resources have recently become the focus of many research and technological development tasks. Most of these developments are targeting the replacement or optimization of the highly CO2 emissive and energy intensive processes as well as the efficient utilization of secondary resources in accordance with the principles of circular economy. However, this effort towards sustainability and circular economy faces different challenges. This session aims to frame a comprehensive discussion and sharing of data on the advancement of inorganic material processing that enable the move towards a sustainable future. We welcome various topics from industry and academia related to the advancements in recycling, sustainable extractive metallurgy, renewable energy technologies, energy conversion and storage materials, heat recovery, etc. Topics of interest includes, but not be limited to:
- Processing and separation of valuable metals from unconventional sources; including pyrometallurgical, hydrometallurgical or electrochemical processes
- Waste combustion processes
- CO2 emission control in material processing
- Hydrogen or alternative reducing agent applications
- High-performance and cost-effective energy materials
- Thermodynamics, kinetics, and modelling of sustainable processes
