Professional interests

Lecturer, docteur en littérature et civilisation françaises
Universitetslärare in French literature and language at Åbo Akademi University

My research interests focus on the representation of the Ottoman Empire in Ancien Régime French literature. Following my PhD (Université Paris - Sorbonne 2012 - advisor : Georges Forestier), I keep on researching on the "Tragedies with Turkish Subjects" in 16th-17th centuries. I also investigate the sources of this Oriental vogue, i.e. travel literature and other historical chronicles on the Ottoman Empire in the early modern period. My experience as an assistant research editor at the Voltaire Foundation, University of Oxford, led me naturally to consider the developement of these topics in the 18th century. Finally, my participation in the Molière21 project (http://www.moliere.paris-sorbonne.fr) and in the edition of Molière's Complete Works (Gallimard, Bibliothèque de la Pléiade, 2010 see http://www.gallimard.fr/Catalogue/GALLIMARD/Bibliotheque-de-la-Pleiade/OEuvres-completes112) also led me to focus on the early modern press, court society and galanterie.
